SUE STEELE

Sue writes:
I
was born and educated in the Yorkshire and trained as a nurse in London. In 1960
I moved to rural Devon with my husband. By 1974 the family had grown to 1 boy
and 3 girls (I now have 6 grandchildren the eldest is doing a nursing degree in
Exeter) and we all moved to Taunton where I bought and ran a Nursing Home for
the next 14 years. I married for the 2nd time in 1984 and moved to my
husband's home in Isle Abbotts. I retired in 1988.
During
the following years I busied myself other than housework and gardening plus a
little sailing at Lyme Regis, with getting to know people in the surrounding
villages.
My
late husband was Chairman of Isle Abbotts PC at the time and insisted I learn
about the area and the places most likely to flood. I also took an interest in
the local Play Group and was on the successful Action Group that saved Ilton 1st
School 9yrs ago. It has since has gone from strength to strength (new classrooms
are being erected for this September)
In
2003 as I had rather a gap in my life, with time to give, I put my name forward
for South Somerset District Council and, with thanks to the electorate of
Islemoor Ward, I became and enjoy being your District Councillor.
